Now that he’s blown far from any ethics oversight, Rathbun would have us believe that his hands are now clean, and his efforts to “salvage” Scientology sincere and pure.

His actions and “products” tell the real tale, however. Broken relationships, drug reversions, alcoholism, backbiting, and of course the de rigeur Church-bashing are the normal Rathbun results of his “services.”

Most of his daily actions to slander the Church and honest members of it are textbook violations of Suppressive Acts as laid out in policy by LRH. One of Rathbun’s favorites is his self-promoted desire to “save” Scientology, which he apparently feels he will do by employing reverse-Dianetics, implanting techniques, group hypnotism (even these ideas he squirrels) and bizarre applications of specious propaganda techniques.

People frequently ask here why can’t Marty Rathbun get anything straight? Why does Rathbun misrepresent the most benign efforts of Scientologists and the most pro-survival actions of thousands of good people – including Church management – every chance he gets?

Why must Marty Rathbun put a suppressive twist on his every utterance about Scientology?

In a 1959 lecture, LRH described the phenomenon in which Marty Rathbun is stuck:

“The basis of destruction is Alter-isness. And when somebody would like to destroy you, but can’t, all he can do is alter-is you.”

“…we see this in various ways. Entheta, you see. Here’s an auditor sitting in an area doing all right. Some other auditor isn’t doing all right, so they start accumulating overts against this auditor that is doing all right. The next thing you know, the person committing the overts gets madder and madder at the auditor. This fellow has never done anything, you understand, to this other guy. Maybe even sent him some pcs. And the more that B does to A, the more overts, overts, overts pile up into the more anger, anger, anger. You got the idea? It’s a one-man fight. There’s no other fight going on over here, see?”

“Boy, it begins to look like a cyclone is happening in this vicinity. This fellow goes to bed at night and bites the pillow, you know, and screams to himself, you know. And while auditing a pc or something like that — lets out little yips occasionally. And this is Alter-isness.

Destruction as we know it, in war or in anything else, is simply Alter-isness of the creation. It is not the cessation of creation — it is the Alter-isness of the existing creation.

But Alter-isness — Alter-isness is the keynote of all destruction.

And any person who has a great many overts against another person starts trying to alter-is. Get the idea? He starts to alter-is the other person. He alter-ises anything the other person is doing. You see? He alter-ises anything the other person thinks. He alter-ises any other thing the other person has as a reputation and so on. And it adds up to basically what looks like destruction. And this basically is caused or can be caused by no more than an overt. In other words, you get this silly situation where one overt breeds another overt, which breeds another overt, which breeds another overt, which brings about a bad opinion.”

This quote from LRH clearly points out that you just can’t trust anything Rathbun says. You see what’s beneath his frantic efforts to alter the truth. You see where his “bad opinions” come from.

There are plenty of laughable moments that the cartoon Marty Rathbun provided us with, many of them centering around Rathbun’s mistaken idea that perception is reality. This is entirely consistent with his incessant drive to alter things around him, and part of why he never got any case gain. One of the better examples in 2011 was Rathbun comparing himself to Martin Luther, and after a friend poked him and told him the difference between ML and MLK, Rathbun decides to compare himself to both. None of which changes the fact that he’s just a low-level underachiever with the mouth of a snake-oil salesman.

He finally drops it because even his kool-aid cult-of-personality followers are embarrassed by the comparisons.

Rathbun pushes so hard to get people to believe that what he SAYS (perception) is the truth, that he is taken in by others doing the same to him. Mark Bunker spends years in one of the most creepy displays of LRH hatred and Dianetics/Scientology Tech mockery one could possibly find, but Rathbun believes him when Bunker says he only wants to help “reform” the Church. Rathbun conveniently never bothers to look at what Bunker has actually done.

Even now, Rathbun continues to feed him scurrilous claims, as has no where else to go, and he has to keep his dwindling cult members thinking he’s doing something.

Marty Rathbun started the year by announcing a training revolution for squirrels: new facilities, supervisors, low prices, none of those pesky LRH checksheets, etc.

The facilities were in far-out never heard of locations. No one came. Rathbun himself promoted his own facility near the Shack, and couldn’t get anyone to come. The supervisors turned out to be either unqualified or had been RPFed multiple times for out-Tech, proponents of bizarre training/auditing ceremonies (auditing over the internet? Really? Did you guys do ANY meter drills?) or all of the above.

Last year, my father was in Melbourne, Australia, where his mother and brother also lived. They were not in town.

Totally unannounced and with no pre-warning Mike and Christi (the 30-something year old who he is living with) showed up at his mother’s residence and lied their way into my grandmother’s room at her nursing home (she is in her 80s). This was a calculated act on his part as he knows she despises what he has become and how he has treated his family and our church and how much this would upset her.

Mike took someone into my grandmother’s room that she doesn’t even know or like and allowed Christi to look and touch my grandmother’s personal things.

Hearing my grandmother tell me what they did disgusted me. She herself told me she felt “violated by her own son.” She told me in exact specifics what papers were moved in her drawer, what was sitting differently or moved in her room. This was devastating to her. The distress Mike caused his mother tells the story of who he is and the lengths he will go to harm those who were closest to him.

To know he would so willingly, with no regard, enturbulate his own mother, further proved to me that he really does not care about anyone or love any of us.

Marty Rathbun shows himself to be a classic bully railing against his intended victims for daring to defend themselves. Rathbun the bully just wants his victims to take what he dishes out and die. The real crime that Rathbun sees is the Church being there and communicating.

Before you think that Marty Rathbun couldn’t be so petty as to resent the Church of Scientology and whine about it broadly for accomplishing what he simply can’t, note this: while the Church of Scientology is able to make it’s actual intentions and activities known to Federal authorities, Rathbun can’t even get their attention.

Marty focuses all his energy on slandering a decent man who is trying to help people all around the world practice their religions freely. Joseph Grieboski writes about religious intolerance that takes place all over the world. Here is a man who is attempting to put a stop to the atrocities that take place every day, and Rathbun wants to shut him up, and push him off the scene. What do you have to hide that you wouldn’t want this person around Marty?

Rathbun went after Grieboski because he mentioned the oppression of Scientology in Belgium in a recent article. Not only was this the only mention of Scientology in the article, it was not even the focus of the article. The writer also mentioned the persecution of Baha’is in Iran and Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia, incessant anti-semitic acts in Europe, and the use of rape as a weapon in Congo without pushing Marty’s buttons. Rathbun seems to seethe when he even sees the word Scientology anywhere but his own blog.

Rathbun’s irrationality and madness are growing by the day. Marty Rathbun is definitely a Scrooge this Christmas.
